Voluntary automobile insurance
If you own a vehicle, don't overlook the opportunity of acquiring an insurance policy, and rest assured that in case of an accident, the Instituto Nacional de Seguros will provide you with immediate support. To be insured is an obligation, but even more so in our country, where traffic accidents are commonplace, and many people die or suffer injuries for this cause.
The Voluntary Insurance covers any damages to your car, as well as liability for damages to property, and death or injuries to third parties. The different types of coverage offered are the following:
A: Extracontractual Liability for injury or death of persons.
C: Extracontractual Liability for damages to third parties' property.
D: Collision or overturn caused by collision.
E: Fire or lightning.
F: Theft and larceny.
H: Additional risks.
Furthermore, if you acquire the minimum coverage for Collision or Overturn caused by Collision, you will receive Traveler Assistance free of charge.
Traveler Assistance or INS Assistance provides nationwide technical assistance, or if you and your family should require medical attention or other services abroad. These benefits are available to natural persons and corporations and are limited to a maximum of three events a year per insured vehicle.
If your automobile is for private passenger use, weighs a maximum of 3,500 kilograms, and is 15 years old or newer, you are entitled to receiving INS Assistance.
Some of the many services offered are: towing of the insured vehicle due to failure or accident; medical assistance due to accident or illness; hotel stay upon medical advise, and repatriation due to accident or illness, to name a few.
On the other hand, in order to guarantee an immediate and timely service, it is compulsory that a police report be filed at the site of the accident.
When an accident occurs, just dial 800-800 8000 and an INS inspector will arrive at the site to file the report and take the corresponding photographs. The inspector will then provide the policyholder with a brochure containing information on the requirements for submitting the claim for indemnity.
